Deputy Prime Minister Inaugurates Township for Refugees in Paktia

H.E. Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, inaugurated a new residential township for returnees today in Paktia Province.

At the inauguration ceremony, he was accompanied by Mawlawi Hamdullah Nomani, Acting Minister of Urban Development and Housing; the Administrative Deputy of the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations; the Governor of Paktia province; and other local officials. The newly inaugurated Darul Qarar Township spans 2,000 acres and includes 890 residential plots.

The township offers essential facilities and services, with 100 homes to be built in partnership with the Red Crescent and charitable donors from Qatar.

In his remarks, H.E. Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi thanked the Qatari Red Crescent for their humanitarian support and stressed the Islamic Emirate’s responsibility to assist returnees who were displaced during the occupation and are now being forcibly deported.

He further emphasized the work of the High Commission for Refugee Affairs, assuring that the Islamic Emirate is dedicated to facilitating the dignified reintegration of returnees and providing essential services for their successful resettlement.
