His Excellency Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, attended and delivered a speech this morning at the Second Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Specialized National and International Exhibition.
At the exhibition, which was organized by the Ministry of Public Health, His Excellency Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, along with a number of officials of the Islamic Emirate, diplomats from foreign countries, doctors, industrialists, and investors, were present.
The Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs stated that the health sector, like other sectors, had sustained extensive damage as a result of the imposed war on the country, and that the revitalization of this sector requires comprehensive attention in order to align it with contemporary needs.
He added that since the establishment of the Islamic Emirate’s government in the country, significant progress has been made in the health sector, particularly in the production of medicines, the provision of medical equipment, and their standardization.
His Excellency Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi emphasized the use of domestic products and the strengthening of the health sector, and stated that the Islamic Emirate is striving to provide full support to the private sector, especially to domestic investors and industrialists engaged in the production and supply of medicines.
He also stressed the quality of medicines produced by manufacturers and stated that public access to high-quality medicines is of particular importance in safeguarding public health and human life, while also strengthening society’s trust in the health sector and medical professionals.
The Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs stated that the implementation of international standards in the production of medicines and healthcare products is among the most important factors in ensuring quality, safety, and competitiveness with international products, and that this will contribute to the sustainable development of the pharmaceutical industry in the country.
He also called on Afghan specialists residing abroad to cooperate with the health sector during their leave periods by contributing not only to the treatment of patients and the capacity-building of young doctors, but also to the transfer of medical expertise and healthcare systems.
His Excellency Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi further stated that many patients are currently being treated within the country, and that officials of the Islamic Emirate are making serious efforts to create conditions for the treatment of all diseases inside Afghanistan, so that no patient will be compelled to travel abroad for medical treatment.
At the conclusion of his remarks, he referred to the standardization of Al-Shifa Hospital and stated that the hospital is currently undergoing renovation, while the procurement of the required advanced equipment and the recruitment process for specialized personnel are underway.
