His Excellency Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, accompanied by a delegation, traveled to Hairatan Port in Balkh Province.
During the visit, discussions were conducted regarding the provision of 24-hour services at Hairatan Port and the existing challenges faced by Emirati institutions operating at the port, including the Ministries of Finance, Industry and Commerce, Foreign Affairs, Transport, Civil Aviation, and Public Works; the Hairatan Commission; the Food and Drug Administration; the Standards and Quality Authority; and the Emirate-owned companies, namely Oil and Gas, Astras, and Afsotar. Necessary decisions were adopted concerning the resolution of these issues.
In accordance with the decisions taken, the organizational structures of the Emirate institutions at the port will be expanded as required. Large and standard vehicle parking areas, administrative buildings, loading and unloading centers, advanced laboratories, standard roads, and cold storage facilities will be constructed. The existing railway lines will be expanded, transportation vehicles will be provided for transport and transit purposes, digital weighing scales for measuring heavy cargo weights will be installed, and mobile scanners will be deployed to prevent smuggling.
Through the implementation of the aforementioned measures, efficient 24-hour export and import services will be provided at Hairatan Port without delay, which will, in turn, increase the volume of bilateral trade between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan and contribute positively to economic growth.
