Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi, Chief of Staff of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, met this morning at the Arg with Mr. Mirdif bin Ali Al-Qashouti, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Afghanistan.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Qatari Ambassador described his country’s relations with Afghanistan as strong and historic and stated that during his mission, he would strive to further elevate and strengthen these relations.
Mr. Mirdif bin Ali Al-Qashouti referred to Qatar’s completed and ongoing development and humanitarian assistance projects in Afghanistan and added that, taking advantage of the existing security environment, efforts are underway to continue cooperation in many other sectors as well.
The Ambassador of Qatar described good relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan as important for the region’s economy, security, and stability, and stated that Qatar is sincerely trying to help find an appropriate solution to the issues that have arisen between the two countries.
In response, Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi welcomed the Ambassador and described relations between Qatar and Afghanistan as important. He added that over the past twenty years, Qatar, as a brotherly Muslim country, has made great efforts toward strengthening peace and stability in Afghanistan, for which the Islamic Emirate is grateful.
Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi also described Qatar’s projects carried out in various sectors as beneficial and called for further expansion of the level of cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office stated that the Islamic Emirate seeks positive bilateral relations with neighboring countries, regional states, and the wider world within the framework of mutual respect, Afghanistan’s national interests, and Sharia principles. He added that just as the Islamic Emirate works for security, stability, and the welfare of the Afghan people, it also supports security and stability in other countries.
