His Excellency Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, inaugurated the reactivation of the fifth section of the Hairatan–Mazar-e-Sharif railway line in Balkh Province.
The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs commended the efforts of the Ministry of Public Works in expanding the country’s railway network and also expressed appreciation for the cooperation of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He further stated that the economic and trade relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have strengthened more than ever before, and in order to further enhance these relations, a joint committee has been established with the relevant institutions under the leadership of the esteemed Governor of Balkh Province.
The fifth section of the Hairatan–Mazar-e-Sharif railway line consists of 70 kilometers of railway track, 30 kilometers of branch lines, five stations, and the capacity to unload 50 wagons.
With the activation of this section, substantial facilities will be created for increasing the volume and transportation of commercial goods, which will consequently further expand trade relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan and further reinforce the country’s economic growth process.
