Economic Commission Approves 69 Draft Standards and Quality Measures

The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, H.E. Alhaj Mula Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund chaired the economic commission's regular meeting today.

In accordance with the agenda, 69 draft standards prepared by the Directorate of Standards and Quality were presented to the meeting of the Economic Commission for approval.

Following comprehensive deliberations during the meeting, the aforementioned drafts were approved, and the relevant institutions were instructed to ensure their effective implementation.

Of the 69 drafts, 29 pertain to testing methods, while the remainder consist of standards developed in the fields of management, petroleum products, medical equipment, telecommunications, chemical substances, agriculture and food products, mining, environmental protection, and construction materials.

During the meeting, a report was also presented regarding the technical, financial, and economic studies and activities related to the electricity supply project for six districts of Jowzjan Province.

Following discussions, the participants resolved that a delegation should visit the aforementioned districts and present its findings at the next meeting of the Economic Commission.

During the meeting, the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum also proposed the awarding of a contract for coal surface extraction in the Zora area of Dara-i-Suf Bala District, Samangan Province, to 77 construction companies. In this regard, the Economic Commission decided that all aspects of the contract should be reviewed in accordance with the relevant principles and that a final report should be submitted to the Office of the Prime Minister.

In today’s meeting, it was decided that this matter should be submitted to the Office of the Prime Minister following a comprehensive review.

The meeting of the Economic Commission also received reports from the designated committee regarding fuel contracts of government institutions, as well as a report from the Ministry of Public Health concerning the 50-bed hospital in Ali Abad District of Kunduz Province.

Following discussions, it was decided that a committee should comprehensively examine the issue of fuel contracts and present its report at the next meeting of the Commission.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Economic Commission decided that the Ministry of Public Health should construct a 30-bed hospital in Ali Abad District of Kunduz Province.
