In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
One hundred and six years ago today, with the assistance of Almighty Allah and through the blessing of a decisive struggle, the proud Muslim people of Afghanistan compelled the then-colonial British Empire to recognize Afghanistan’s complete independence and to restore control over the nation’s foreign policy, authority that had previously been taken by the British, back to the Afghans.
This success was the outcome of the struggle, sacrifices, and dedication of the Afghan mujahideen, and it remains a source of pride and respect for our people to this day.
Similarly, following that achievement, the Afghan people attained further successive victories on two other significant fronts: first against the Soviet Union, and later against the American occupation. Praise be to Allah, these struggles became an important chapter of courage and sacrifice in the history of Afghanistan.
Overcoming three world powers within the span of a century was, above all, due to the assistance and grace of Almighty Allah, and thereafter the result of the steadfast faith, determination, and honor of this oppressed people, who stood firmly to defend their religion, their belief, and their independence.
It is now incumbent upon our youth and future generations to follow in the footsteps of their forefathers, to always stand with firm resolve and strong determination against all forms of aggression and occupation, and to draw constructive lessons from past history.
Today, on the 28th of Asad / 19th August (Independence Day), we commemorate this occasion at a time when only four days earlier we also marked the Day of Victory and Freedom from American occupation. These consecutive celebrations oblige us to maintain constant gratitude and obedience to Almighty Allah. We must adhere firmly to the sacred Sharia and regard every success as the grace and assistance of Allah, the Exalted.
Wassalam
