Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, His Excellency, Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi chaired and delivered a speech at the distribution ceremony for the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification for pharmaceutical industry workers. The program was led by the Ministry of Public Health.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs expressed gratitude to the leadership and officials of the Ministry of Public Health for hosting the ceremony and appreciated such pharmaceutical production companies as have pledged themselves to international GMP standards.

H.E Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi stated that, alongside other necessary initiatives, the Islamic Emirate has taken effective steps toward expanding domestic production and controlling the quality of medicines and food items. He emphasized the government’s full efforts to make the country self-sufficient in pharmaceutical production.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs highlighted that responsible personnel and monitoring teams have been appointed in both the capital and provinces to ensure quality control of medicines and food products. No one is permitted to produce or import substandard medicines.

He called on the owners of pharmaceutical manufacturing companies and national businessmen to align their operations with international GMP standards and strictly avoid the importation or production of substandard medicines.

He firmly stated that the production and importation of low-quality medicines not only harm the national economy but also endanger the lives of citizens. Anyone committing such a serious crime will face strict action and punishment by the Islamic Emirate.
