This morning, H.E. Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, accompanied by Mawlawi Hamdullah Nomani, Acting Minister of Urban Development and Housing; Al-Haj Mullah Mohammad Yousuf Wafa; and other local officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan inaugurated a newly constructed residential township for returnees in the Nahr-e-Shahi district of Balkh Province.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed deep concern over the forced repatriation of Afghan refugees from neighboring countries, describing the conditions as inhumane and unjust. He reaffirmed the Islamic Emirate’s commitment to ensuring a dignified return for all displaced citizens, emphasizing that comprehensive support and essential services will be provided to help them rebuild their lives with stability and respect.
The Deputy Prime Minister underscored that the forced expulsion of Afghan refugees by neighboring countries stands in clear violation of international law and the norms of good neighborly relations. He urged humanitarian agencies and Afghan business leaders, both domestically and internationally, to extend their support and resources to aid returning refugees in rebuilding their lives.
It is noteworthy that Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi Township spans 3,100 jeribs and is equipped with essential facilities including a mosque, school, and clinic. Plots will be allocated to eligible returnees through a structured process overseen by the designated high commission.
