Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi, Chief of Staff of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, attended and delivered remarks at a coordination meeting convened at Salamkhana Palace concerning the role of the industrial sector in economic development and its alignment with the policies of the Islamic Emirate.
At the outset, Sheikh Mahmood Zakari, Director of Political and Public Affairs, welcomed the participants and reflected on the significance of industry within the framework of Islamic values. Addressing the industrialists, he stated: “You represent a segment of society upon whom the aspirations of our people rest. Owing to your efforts, the nation's industrial capacity has advanced, and the Islamic Emirate takes pride in your contributions. Proceed, therefore, in the industrial field with courage and sincerity.”
Subsequently, Al-Haj Sherbaz Kaminzada, President of the Afghanistan Chamber of Industries and Mines, expressed gratitude to the Islamic Emirate for its support of the industrial community and its attention to the development of the industrial sector. He underscored the necessity of enhanced coordination with industrialists and advocated for the formulation of incentive-based policies through consultation and collaboration with the sector, aimed at facilitating industrial growth.
In addition, Haji Syed Sarwar Amani Agha, President of the Kandahar Chamber of Industries and Mines; Haji Abdul Nasir Amin, President of the Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines; Haji Tor Malang Shaghiwal, President of the Nangarhar Chamber of Industries and Mines; and Haji Mirwais Wazirzai Katwazi commended the Islamic Emirate’s initiatives in promoting economic growth and preserving the stability of the national currency.
These representatives presented proposals and requests pertaining to the enhancement of electricity supply to industrial parks, the simplification of land allocation processes, the development of infrastructure for industrial parks, increased support for domestic products, and the institutionalization of regular consultations with industrialists.
Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi, Chief of Staff of the Office of the Prime Minister, stated during his address that with national security now firmly established, the conditions are conducive to investment, industrial expansion, and broader economic development. He noted that significant strides have been made in these domains over the past four years.
He emphasized the Islamic Emirate’s unwavering support for traders, investors, and industrialists, noting that His Highness the Amir al-Mu’minin (may Allah protect him) has designated land for industrial parks across various provinces. This initiative, he explained, will contribute to industrial advancement and generate employment opportunities for the population.
Addressing the industrialists directly, Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi stated: “We will ensure transparency in our actions and expectations. We must cultivate mutual trust and cooperation. While pursuing fair competition and safeguarding our interests, we must also consider the welfare of others. With sincerity and goodwill, we will strive for the advancement of the nation, the system, and Afghanistan. We shall endeavor to reactivate idle factories under the Emirate’s ownership so that the country achieves self-sufficiency and its people attain stability.”
He further noted that among the returnees are individuals with valuable skills who should be integrated into various sectors through employment opportunities. He concluded by assuring industrialists that their concerns and proposals will be communicated to the senior leadership and the relevant ministries and institutions for appropriate resolution.
