Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Al-Haj Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the Salang Highway.
The Deputy Prime Minister praised the Ministry of Public Works and contracted companies for their efforts and directed them to complete the remaining sections of this critical route before winter sets in, while upholding quality standards.
Officials from the Ministry of Public Works and the contracted firms assured the Deputy Prime Minister that the reconstruction of the Salang Highway is proceeding in full compliance with required standards and that they remain committed to completing the planned works for this year ahead of winter.
Currently, reconstruction on the Salang Highway from the 10th to the 15th rockfall barrier in the Southern Salang has been completed, raising overall progress on the southern section to 55 percent. The finished barriers have been reinforced with 85 centimeters of high-quality concrete. Meanwhile, reconstruction on the Northern Salang is also advancing rapidly.
