His Excellency Al-Haj Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, and his delegation at the Arg Palace. The meeting was also attended by Ismatulla Irgashev, Special Representative of the Uzbek President for Afghanistan.
The Prime Minister welcomed the delegation during the meeting, which was also attended by Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, and highlighted the longstanding and historic ties between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
Uzbek Foreign Minister Mr. Bakhtiyor Saidov extended the cordial greetings and best wishes of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Prime Minister and the people of Afghanistan.
He stated that today was a historic day for both Afghanistan and Uzbekistan. A political and consultative meeting took place between the two countries, and a trilateral memorandum of understanding was signed on the feasibility study of the Trans-Afghan Railway.
The Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan applauded Afghanistan’s persistent work toward political stability, economic growth, and improving the lives of its citizens, considering these important achievements. He noted that this indicates Afghanistan is advancing in a favorable direction.
He underscored the ongoing cooperation between regional states, the international community, and the Islamic Emirate, noting that Uzbekistan has consistently backed the Afghan government and its people on the world stage and will continue to do so.
He also expressed gratitude to the Islamic Emirate for its dedicated efforts in restoring the shrine of Muhammad ibn Ismail Imam al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him), emphasizing that this revered figure is a source of pride not only for Uzbekistan and Afghanistan but for the entire Muslim world.
He noted that over 100 delegations have exchanged visits between Uzbekistan and the Islamic Emirate, highlighting the strength of their bilateral ties. He expressed hope for the continuation of this relationship and formally invited H.E. Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund to visit Uzbekistan.

He also conveyed his personal greetings and best wishes to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev through the Uzbek Foreign Minister, praying that Almighty Allah may sustain and deepen the brotherhood and cooperation between the two nations.
