The Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan performs the Eid al-Adha Prayer at the Presidential Palace

On the morning of Eid al-Adha, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, His Excellency Al-Haj Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, performed the Eid prayer at the Presidential Palace, in the presence of senior officials of the Islamic Emirate.

Participating alongside the Prime Minister were the following high-ranking dignitaries: the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund; the Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, His Excellency Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi; the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and Head of the Judiciary, Sheikh al-Hadith Mawlavi Abdul Hakim Haqqani; the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister's Office, Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi’; as well as several cabinet members, and a range of civil and military officials of the Islamic Emirate, along with members from various communities. Upon conclusion of the prayer, the participants exchanged Eid greetings.

Prior to the prayer, the Chief Justice and Head of the Judiciary addressed the congregation. He extended his congratulations to scholars, elders, cabinet members, officials of the Islamic Emirate, and to Muslims across the globe on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. He emphasized that responsibility and duty are a trust (amanah) that must be discharged with integrity. He called upon all to observe both the rights of Allah (huquq Allah) and the rights of fellow human beings (huquq al-‘ibad).

The Chief Justice underscored that the implementation of divine law constitutes a core obligation of Islamic governance. He asserted that the Islamic Emirate has thus far administered these laws with effectiveness.

Subsequently, the Prime Minister, His Excellency Al-Haj Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, delivered a formal address. He conveyed Eid felicitations to the global Muslim community and expressed hope that the blessed days would be spent in harmony and goodwill. He also stressed the moral imperative of extending kindness and support to the impoverished, to relatives, and to neighbors during this festive period.

He further remarked that peace and the establishment of a system based on Islamic Sharia law are divine blessings that must be cherished. He urged the scholarly class to act as guardians of the Islamic order and to uphold the values of a Sharia-based governance.

Alluding to the tendency of media outlets to downplay or misrepresent the accomplishments of the Islamic system, he stated: “We must not allow the light of the Islamic system to be extinguished.”

He also referenced the efficient and timely management of returning refugees by relevant institutions within the Islamic Emirate, including the provision of accommodation. In addition, he expressed his gratitude to the preachers, imams, scholars, mujahideen, and other citizens who have voiced their support for the oppressed and defenseless people of Palestine.

His Excellency Al-Haj Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund declared: “Although challenges exist, we must remain vigilant. Scholars and all Afghans must not grant the enemy any opportunity to weaken the foundations of Sharia-based governance.”

He appealed to Afghan citizens residing abroad to return to their homeland, assuring them of their safety. He reiterated the declaration of a general amnesty by His Highness the Amir al-Mu’minin, may Allah protect him, encouraging repatriated individuals to live peacefully in their ancestral lands.

In the concluding portion of his speech, the Prime Minister addressed the youth and vehicle operators, advising them to exercise caution while driving during Eid and at all other times, and to refrain from behaviors that may endanger themselves or others.

Finally, Sheikh al-Qur’an wal-Hadith Mawlavi Mohammad Faqir delivered a supplication. He extended Eid greetings to the devout and mujahid people of Afghanistan and prayed for the continued strength of Sharia-based governance, and for unity and solidarity among Muslims worldwide.
