Work Begins on Tooti M Gas Fields Project

The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Al-Haj Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, attended today’s inauguration ceremony marking the start of practical work on the Tooti Maidan gas fields exploration and extraction project.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs described the launch of operations at these gas fields as an important step in investment, stating that investment in such major projects sends a clear message to all countries and investors that security has been ensured in Afghanistan and favorable conditions for all types of investments are in place.

He added that, under the Islamic Emirate’s economy-focused policy, all potential investors are welcomed and supported through the provision of necessary facilities.

Al-Haj Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund said the project will create numerous job opportunities for citizens, substantially meet domestic gas needs, reduce the country’s dependence on imported gas and electricity, and gradually pave the way for gas exports.

He further stated that the implementation of this project will help balance trade to some extent and play an important role in the country’s overall economic growth.

The Deputy Prime Minister once again called on all domestic and foreign investors and businessmen to invest in Afghanistan and take advantage of the country’s comparative advantages.

Finally, Al-Haj Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund urged the contracted company for the Tooti Maidan gas fields exploration and extraction to carry out its work properly and in accordance with all standards and regulations.
