H.E. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, chaired the fourth extraordinary meeting of the High Council for Standards, held today at Marmarin Palace.
The Deputy Prime Minister stated that this extraordinary meeting was convened following the directive of His Highness, Amir al-Mu’minin, who instructed that the National Standards Authority and the Committee for Preventing Low-Quality Fuel shall jointly develop a new standard for imported fuel within ten working days and submit it for approval.
He further emphasized that, to ensure economic stability and protect public health, the Islamic Emirate has implemented important and effective measures to control low-quality imports. These efforts not only improve the quality of the domestic market but also strengthen consumer confidence.
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the crucial role of standards and quality as key pillars for economic stability and building a self-reliant Afghanistan. He explained that standardization guarantees the quality of industry, trade, agriculture, and production, while also being vital for boosting exports, protecting consumer rights, and facilitating access to global markets.
He stated that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, through the High Council for Standards, seeks to implement coordinated, transparent, and reliable policies and systems for national standards, guaranteeing their benefits across all sectors.
Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Baradar Akhund also directed the Standards Implementation Committee to rigorously enforce the standards and testing procedures approved by the High Council for Standards. Furthermore, the private sector was urged to strictly comply with these standards in production and imports and to submit their compliance reports to the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office for Economic Affairs.
In today’s extraordinary meeting, the High Council for Standards approved 57 standards and testing procedures related to fuel products.
