The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, H.E. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, met today in his office with national entrepreneur Mirwais Azizi, CEO of Azizi Energy, accompanied by his technical team.
During the meeting, Mr. Azizi presented a progress report on the 10,000-megawatt power generation project. He stated that, following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, his teams—working alongside technical experts from the relevant ministries—had been dispatched to Baghlan, Balkh, Jawzjan, Herat, and Bamyan provinces. Over the past two weeks, they have conducted preliminary surveys of potential sites and collected essential technical data.
Mr. Azizi explained that the 10,000-megawatt power generation project will be implemented in three phases, with the first phase comprising 4,000 megawatts of capacity. According to Azizi Energy officials, the practical implementation of projects under this phase will soon commence in close coordination with the relevant ministries and agencies. He also shared a number of requests and proposals with the Deputy Prime Minister to ensure the project’s successful execution.
The Deputy Prime Minister, together with the heads of the relevant ministries and agencies, assured full support and commitment to addressing these requests. At the conclusion of the meeting, and in line with the Deputy Prime Minister’s instructions, a joint committee was established. The committee—comprising representatives from the relevant ministries, agencies, and Azizi Energy—has been tasked with overseeing and monitoring the implementation of the 10,000-megawatt power generation project and submitting regular progress reports to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs.
